There is / There are.

   THERE IS / THERE ARE (HAY)

 There is and There are es algo que utilizamos para reconocer la existencia de personas,objetos, animales. los utilizamos para decir que algo existe en determinado lugar.y que hay cierta cantidad de cualquier sustancia objeto o determinado numero de sujetos en un espacio.

Tambien lo usamos para contabilizar objetos, personas o animales en determinado lugar.

EXAMPLES:

Affirmative form.

There is a pencil on my chair.------- hay un lapiz en mi silla.             (singular form).

There are two pencils on my chair------ hay dos lapices en mi silla.   (plural form).


Negative form.

There isn´t a pencil on my chair-------- no hay un lapiz en mi silla          (singular form)

There aren´t two pencils on my chair--- no hay dos lapices en mi silla     (plural form)


Interrogative form.

Is there a pencil on my chair?---------- ¿hay un lapiz en mi silla?             (singular form)

Are there two pencils on my chair?---- ¿hay dos lapices en mi silla?        (plural form)

EXAMPLE:

Describe the picture using There is / There are.

There is a dog in the picture.

There are three eagles in the picture.

There is a boy in the picture.

There are two threes in the picture.

There is a bicycle in the picture.
